Designated Safeguarding Lead Training for Guardians, Monday 14th October
This course covers the knowledge, skills, and up-to-date legislation required for Designated Safeguarding Leads in guardianship organisations. It is a one day course. Designated Safeguarding Lead training needs to be updated every two years.
This course is delivered by a trainer with NSPCC certification of competency in safeguarding and child protection training (October 2013) and a social work manager with over 30 years of experience.
Trainer
Ann Marie Christian has specialised in safeguarding from 1992 and specialised within education and childcare settings since being a school based social worker in 1999. In 2010, she became an independent social worker and provides associate consultancy and training to various organisations including NSPCC, Local Authorities, Council of International Schools, AEGIS, Premier League, Multi Academy Trusts and more. Ann Marie Christian has accreditation with the ‘NSPCC Certificate of Competency in Safeguarding and Child Protection Training’ completed in October 2013.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Revised knowledge concerning child abuse
- Childcare legislation and information sharing
- Ensure commitment to putting children and their rights at the heart of safeguarding.
- Increase knowledge of up-to-date local information regarding safeguarding and protecting children and the implications.
- Increase confidence in supporting staff who are working with children and their families.
- Increase understanding of the use of reflective practice.
- Increase knowledge of safeguarding board procedures and the interface with the agency procedures.
- Increase the understanding of the child serious case review process and the lessons learnt.
- Increase confidence in inter-agency working as a designated safeguarding lead.
