Treating Racism as a Safeguarding Concern

Racism is something that needs to be seen and acknowledged before it is understood. And once understood, it can be tackled. For schools, treating racism as a safeguarding concern would be transformational. In this talk, Jeffrey explores some fundamental questions that can be asked of an institution to this end. Who is trained to deal with it? What is the organisation’s anti-racist policy? What training is required for all staff? What processes are in place to tackle racist incidents, at every level? And what are the wider, deeper contexts that make it unsafe for students marginalised by race?
