Go backNew AEGIS Quality Standards in Response to NMS
By Aegis UK • October 20, 2022
The new National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools have prompted us all to âraise our gameâ when it comes to educational guardianship, which of course, can only be excellent news for international student welfare. Schools have been working hard to improve and amend their processes to meet the requirements of the new Standard 22 on guardianship; and at AEGIS we have updated our Quality Standards to reflect the changes, and ensure that the new requirements are always met or exceeded by the level of support provided by our guardians.
Among the revisions in our Quality Standards are new requirements for monitoring and supporting the welfare and mental health of international students, which is a key focus in both KCSiE 2022 and the new NMS. Standard 4.2 Student Wellbeing and Standard 4.3 Mental Health can be found here: AEGIS Quality Standards 2022.
DfE have confirmed that having an AEGIS accredited guardian in place meets the requirements of Standard 22, but we are not complacent, and we will continue to hone our support and guidance to support the work that our guardians do, and to ensure that best practice is maintained.
